The following items should be completed before taking your computer to be certified by FHSS Computing Support.
WINDOWS USERS:
- Run Microsoft Update and click on the Express button to install the High-Priority updates.
- Make sure Automatic Updates is turned on.
- Install and run a Full Scan with the BYU copy of Norton Antivirus
- Install and run a Full Scan with the free version of Lavasoft’sAdAware
- Uninstall any Peer-to-Peer (P2P) file sharing applications.
MAC USERS:
- Run Software Update (under the Apple menu) and install all available updates.
- Delete any Peer-to-Peer (P2P) file sharing applications.
If all of the above steps are completed prior to certification, the process should only take about 15 minutes. If these are not done and a computing support technician has to scan the computer, expect to leave your computer for approximately 2-3 hours.
